What is stalking?
As discussed by Carlos Castaneda and other practitioners of shamanism, stalking is the ability to fix the attention (and the assemblage point) on a specific task or identity, in order to accomplish specific goals. Most warriors are by nature, either dreamers or stalkers. Naguals (or double-beings) tend to be both equally, though most of the naguals I have known personally tend to have a natural predelection toward one or the other as a preference.
It was once explained to me by a fellow warrior that stalking is also the sorcerer's ability to manipulate the and potentially shift the assemblage points of others by creating within them a belief about something that may or may not be true. For example, though I myself am not a doctor, I could very easily put on the trappings and persona of a doctor and convince almost anyone that I am a respected surgeon on the Harvard faculty. Or, by contrast, though I am not a homeless person on the corner of some LA street, I could if I chose, put on the trappings of that persona and walk unchallenged into soup kitchens and all night missions.
There is a statement in the movie, THE TRUMAN SHOW, that has always made me smile. "We accept the reality with which we are presented." Stalkers realize this and use it to its fullest extent at all times, stalking the world and - most importantly - stalking themselves, to discover what is folly and what lies beyond that folly.
Obviously, there is far more to stalking than pretense. Essentially, stalking is the ability to inhabit assemblage points that are not necessarily the warrior's natural AP, for the sake of energetic gain. For those who have seen the movie, CATCH ME IF YOU CAN, the main character had the traits of a master stalker. Whether we agree with his morality or not is altogether irrelevant. Stalkers and warriors do not tend to dwell in the world of "shoulds" and "shouldn'ts" and "right" and "wrong". What we think of as "morality" today will be obsolete tomorrow, and as such is only a transitory agreement.
Quote:
"Stalking is the art of controlled folly. A Stalker is someone who stalks the world, especially his or her own shortcomings in order to clear them up. Everything in the world that surrounds a Stalker is an unfathomable, unknowable mystery. This makes him or her equal to everything. Stalkers don't take themselves seriously and they are not afraid of being a fool. A Stalker is someone who is able to hook himself or herself to intent (or spirit) and turn around to face the oncoming infinity." (Carlos Castaneda)
In this folder, we will explore various aspects of stalking, folly, controlled folly, and the dealings of the tonal (or first attention). How can we use stalking to live a better life, improve relationships, and other matters of daily life? And, from a sorcerer's perspective, how does stalking enable us to turn around and face the oncoming infinity?
